I Can See The Driveway! + (3/8/26)

I can drive from the top of the driveway all the way to the road without driving on any snow or ice, so I'm calling it clear. Mother Nature generally has something to say about that. Last year, I declared it on March 10th.

And a bonus picture from my walk down to the corner today. The brook is flowing freely and is finally visible as of yesterday. It had been almost completely drifted over in our last significant snow a couple of weeks back.

I Can See My Driveway! (3/10/25)

I did have to drive over some slush to get out and back into the driveway tonight, I'm calling today the day anyway.

I Can See The Driveway!

I didn't feel like doing a bunch of When Will I See My Driveway? posts this year. I knew with the forecast that the driveway would be snow and ice-free.well before the end of February. I think this is the earliest I have called it, but maybe not.

2023, I Can See The Driveway!

The snowmelt this year has been amazing! The driveway is clear.  I thought I took a picture from the top of the driveway. I'll just have to take a picture tomorrow.

2022 I Can See It! Plus GOMH, No Open Water(3/20/22)

I can drive the entire driveway without touching snow and ice, so today is the day I can see my driveway. With the way water was flowing in the ditches this morning, I thought I would see some open water at the GOMH when I dropped by, but nope. With the forecasted rain Monday through Wednesday, I guess there will be open water there by Friday. I suspect I may have done my last fishing at The Dog unless I go tomorrow evening. The snowmelt peak combined with rain may bring an abrupt end to my ice fishing this year. I thought I would be ice fishing into April this year, but I'm not sure. I noticed a year ago tomorrow was my last ice fishing trip.

It wouldn't surprise me if lakes in far Southern MN open up starting late this week.

Today, I Can See My Driveway

We are ahead of April 6th like it took until in 2014 & 13.  However, there is snow in the forecast for tomorrow.  But the first Bass Pundit sign of spring is here as of today.

A River Runs Across It

All this rain in the past couple of days has overwhelmed our culvert.

A minnow swimming over the driveway

This last picture is a pretty normal flow down the driveway after a heavy rain.
