I guess...

"If you have 60 boxes of lures with you, then you've got 60 boxes to go
through to find what you need. That's too much to worry about, considering bass
have brains the size of a penny."

From FLW Rookie phenom Bobby Lane

I say if you got 60 boxes of lures to go through than you are carrying more lures than your typical Wal-Mart fishing department.

Tackle Warehouse Opener 2005

Didn't fish today.

Did a little work on organizing fishing lures (plastics).

Did a little work with draining water.

Did a little walking of the dogs.

Now I've done a little blogging.

What a day, I'm tired. Now I'm going to bed.

One of these days...

I promise I will get around to blogging about fishing with Cisco Pete with all the pics. We do have some good one's. The computer seems to be working better, but I still need to clean it out. Apparently it was overheating due to dust issues.

Haven't been out fishing of late, although, the neighbors grandkids were out front for a little bit today and they got into some little sunnies and perch out on my early ice spot. I may head out tommorrow as that may be the last day a vehicle will be safe and even that might be questionable. It's gonna be warm this week with rain, and I think we could see the shorelines openning up by next weeked. Nothing makes the ice go away like a semi-warm rain, night's with temps above freezing, and warm temps with wind and it looks like we will get all three this week. Open water and dogfishing could be 2 weeks away with solid run of weather. HOOOOOOOOORAY!

That's right Z-Pundit aka Loudmouth Bass Host Mark Zona is the Top Dog not only on FLW and BASS's Pundit Picks but of the Bass Pundit Championship. He finally grabbed the lead from BP'sObro at Ouachita and extended it just a bit at Norman. At this point there are 8 tournaments down with 10 more to go so this thing ain't over by a long shot. Don't forget BASS is at Table Rock this week and then BASS goes into the E-50's.

The BBWebleague Championship has all the makings of a horse race until the end. LSF and FM have been trading the #1 spot back and forth meanwhile Co-Angler has is has gotten hot and IDA and Catch-N are all hanging in there. I think the bottom 4 teams should almost be in a league of their own as that they only have 1 team a piece to represent them.

BPC State Championship

Ok maybe it ain't fair, Team Minnesocold has 12 Teams and all the rest have just 1 Team to represent them. Hey, they could have had more teams so it' there fault.

BP's Easter Quote

"The cross should be venerated, not eaten, nor tossed casually in an Easter basket beside the jelly beans and marshmallow Peeps...It's insulting."

From AP story Chocolate Crosses Move Into Mainstream

I'm of the theological school that doesn't believe any religious icon or symbolism should be venerated. However I would have to agree that a chocolate cross is in bad taste, not because I venerate the icon or symbol but because of what a cross was used for. A chocolate cross would have it's modern equivalent in the form of a chocolate lynching rope, electric chair, or death cocktail syringe.

For a Walk

Last night about an hour before sunset I decided to go for a walk on the ice, cause there was a guy out fishing in our bay out of his car. I got to within about 150 yards only to see his tail lights come on and him drive away. Ohh well, kind of makes you wonder if he was doing something he shouldn't and was getting out of dodge. I proceeded to walk just a bit farther to where he had been fishing 1st before he moved out to the spot where he left from; This spot I fished a couple of days ago without much success other than perch and a little pike. He had left about 6 little perch to die on the ice. The biggest one was moving, so I put him in the hole and it swam away. As it so happened all of them where alive enough to swim off as soon as they went in the hole.

I then proceeded to walk out to "the hole" because their were about 6 trucks out there. One of the guys had caught and released a dogfish just a few minutes before I got there. Everybody was getting a few crappies but nothing real big and the action was sporatic to slow and got worse as the sun set. Met some interesting fellows one familiar, the other not. One of the old timers told me about "Swede Lewis" who used to live on the property we do now. He said that his mother told him "the old farm house" was the place you could get some moonshine back in the prohibition days. The "old farm house," as we call it, sits right behind the current house and is the orginal dewelling place on the property; that two story house is around a century old and may be older and is still in pretty good shape. A little renovation and it would be quite liveable.

Anyway, it was a gorgeous night and sunset over the Island. Spring is coming slow, but it's coming. I am hoping for some open catching by the 15th of April at the latest, should have some open water fishing available very soon. Ice should be vehicle safe through this weekend, but a warming trend and rain are threatening to put the kybosh on that by early next week.

I hope to have the latest BPC info up soon, as well as my fishing report from last week. Right Now Z-Pundit is leading the overall Bass Pundit Championship and is really on a roll.

The new family member: Lilah!

How's this for compunction, I'm all set to take the new dogs picture but when I do, she does this:
Posted by Hello
As if to say; "No picutres Please! It's been a long trip from Florida and I need my beauty sleep.

Just what we needed, another Diva Dog.

I have not made up my mind about this little one yet. Is she more of a rat than a weasel or Paris Hilton Twinkerbell Dog.
Posted by Hello
Actually, Lilah seems to be a pretty cool little mut and I kind of feel sorry for her. I wonder, which is worse for her, having to live under the intimidation of my darling niece Haley or having to deal with Pattie Lou.
Posted by Hello
From Mom and Dad's reports on the road, I thought Lilah was gonna come right in and establish herself as Alpha female, but Pattie isn't having that. Pattie seems to know who is smaller and how all she needs to do is throw her size and weight around and Lilah won't be able to compete. Lilah doesn't seem to know the meaning of quit or give up at least until Pattie gets a little to physical and then Lilah runs away.

The Hackster comes through

Posted by Hello

Comeback attack … There are many anglers who would be perfectly content to find themselves 32nd in Angler of the Year points, but not Greg Hackney. The Hack Attack was smoking at the close of 2004 but really had not done anything remarkable this season until day two on the Ouachita River. Many felt Hackney would turn his year around on his home waters of the Ouachita, but he surprised the pundits on day one when he brought in a scant 4 pounds, 2 ounces to find himself in 141st (The rest at FLW Quick Bites)
Thank Goodness, for most of the Posse FC teams, the Hackster jumped an increadible 121 places. That is 121 points that were not there on day 1.

Rats

On tonight's Nightline they covered bloggers. This in and of it self is no biggie and wouldn't merit mention but as a part of the story they briefly mentioned a short list and screen shot of examples of blogs that included"...blogs about fishing..." It was up and gone so fast I didn't recognize if it is one on the blogroll or not, but it wasn't the BP that's for sure.

The fact is I am a "attension whore" and so am quite angry that they didn't say "...blogs about bass fishing" and then give screen shots to all B.P.B.F.E. blogs and all the other Blogroll-O-BassNblog blogs!

Sure we Bassin/Fishin bloggers are a tiny fraction of the blogosphere population right now but I bet angler will eventually recognize the power of blogs just as fisherman have found the medium of online message boards golden. There is a natural synergy between the pursuit of fish, the power of information flow/networking, and the need to tell one's fishing stories whether true or not.

Blogs will eventually catch on because they hold such great potential as a resource for fisherman.

I think what would really help that out is something somebody like BassFan or the BassFanArmy encouraging people to start a blog and then have blogroll link under the interact tab. Maybe I should start writing an article on the topic and submit it to them and Co-Angler.com

Amyway I need to head to BassFan and read up on the Ouachita in case I need to make a last second Fishing Challenge changes, that is if it' not to late.

3000!

I passed three thousand visits today! Woohoo!
I think this took slightly longer than from 1K to 2K.

Cool Cats Saturday!

March 5th, 2005 Posted by Hello FishingMinnesota.com had their annual "Cool Cats" ice catfishing get-together on the Horseshoe Chain. I've wanted to do this and finally did. The Plan: Get up early and a tape in at Jenny's to record Bass Saturday and then head to Sullivan to try for Tullibee and then leave for the Cool Cats by 8AM. The Execution of Plan: Too tired slept in till 9AM; oh well, that's what I get for overextending myself. I was on the road by 10 and at the event just before noon. They had a huge turnout, but the bite was almost non-existent. Cyberfish and The Pistol hadn't caught anything. So we fished, schmoozed, ate food, I won a door prize of a "card" of Scenic Tackle Glow Devil Spoons, not to be confused with Custom Jigs Glow Demons, and took Pattie Lou for walks and played fetch. I would say there were close to 100 people at the event. For a full story on how I did, plus more pics, check the BP Fishing Log Blog
