I hear ya. I was raised to keep my catch of pike and pannies. And from time to time, I will keep some bass, depending on the situation. I don't see much sense in releasing a fish that is gut hooked and will die anyway. And if a lake is full of 15"ers, I'll keep some of those as well because from what I've heard and seen, that can improve a fishery because there's less competition for the same forage base.
