Tribute To Kaylee

Kaylee was far from a perfect dog. She came from the Leech Lake Reservation after having had a litter of pups, which probably got her kicked out of her living situation there. She had obviously never been properly socialized with people or other dogs, which made her a bit of a problem child. She had too much guard dog in her. She once attacked little Lilah in our entry way drawing blood. She also bullied Smokey the Cat, big Jake Winters, and Pete's Trigger. She nipped at S-I-L Renee and a home healthcare worker and would have nipped at several others had she been able to get to them. She was an independent girl who only came if she wanted to do it outside the house. She wasn't much of a snuggler for the first few years with us, but over the final few years, she became a demanding cuddle monkey who couldn't get enough. She loved to take car rides, going for walks, rolli polli's in the yard when the grass was green, hunting mice, and barking at the neighbor's dogs. At times a terror, at times a sweetheart. My Kaylee, Godspeed, Puppers!

Tribute Lilah Loo

I don't remember my reaction when Mom called to tell me that she would be bringing my brother Steve's recently adopted dog back home with them from Florida.  We still lived at the lake place in 2005, and she bolted several times over the first few years both at the lake place and here where we live now.  She and Patti Lou made fast friends.  She was often my bed buddy sleeping up by my head or under the covers.  She got along OK with the cat.  She and Kaylee do not so much, mainly because Kaylee doesn't play nice with other animals much of the time.  The little yipper won me over with her personality, and I'm sure going to miss her.

Tribute to Patti Lou

Patti was a sweetheart, but a good guard dog too. She left us far to soon and unfortunately much of the blame for that lays on me for not feeding and exercising her as well as I should have. Moving from the lake place where she had ample space to safely run around and I could easily take the dogs for safe long walks didn't help.

Patti loved the water and swam like a fish, so much so that she wasn't a particularly good fishing companion. One memorable time I was fishing from the boat by the Grumpy Old Man Hole and she decided she wanted to visit Grumpy Old Man Willard and jumped out of the boat and swam to shore. I was not happy.

Another memorable Patti episode was when she got skunked on the Minnesota Fishing Opener in 2008. There were the many many times I put the dogs to bed. The Patti Scare incident in 2008 was also immortalized here at Bass Pundit. Another Patti scare was when she had a big fatty tumor grow on her neck; Fortunately it was not cancer and it never came back after surgery.

Patti's companionship certainly helped ease me through the unexpected loss of Soren in December of 2004. Patti was good with children and at times was jealous of the attention given to other dogs that stayed with us, but not Pete's dog Sandy. She never had any issues with our cat Smokey and those two got along quite well.

Patti was a horse of a dog that didn't know her own size. She would sometimes try and sit on my chest or shoulders as I was laying in bed. If she stepped on your foot you knew it. If she was hungry, I knew it.

Patti, you will be missed!!!
