3/26 Bulldog, GOMH, and the Lake Place

Picture Kim took

E of GOMH

Bulldog Access
12:30-1:00pm GOMH NE SW
43-44℉, MS turning cloudy, 4-6mph SW

I drove Kim up to Pine Center to get her car. I stopped at Bulldog, where open water was creeping North from the access next to shore. More open water E of GOMH and out from SPSI. I didn't get any hits in the half hour I fished both sides. Clouds moved in for the day as I was finishing up. We took mom into the cities after 3:30 pm, so we didn't get back until after 8 pm. Kim sent me a pick fro the lake place of where there is open water out front.

Final Bass of 2024(10/23/24)

Despite several nice days between October 23rd and when I took the Trophy out of the lake on November 17th, I only went on two trips in the boat in that span, and I came up empty on Jumpers at the Grumpy Old Man Hole. So this little guy I caught off of the dock at the lake place was my last bass of 2024.

Lake Place Dock In(4/14/24)

Steve got the dock in today.

Here is how things looked yesterday when I went down front. Steve must have felt some peer pressure with everybody else's docks going in.

Super Bowl Sunday @ GOMH

I dropped by the Lake Place for a quick visit with Bella and Bean stopping at the Grumpy Old Man Hole on my way home. Current has expanded the amount of open water despite the cold temps last night. There were three trucks at Bulldog, nobody at Rock, and a couple fish houses back out on Sully. It looks like it's going to be a cool, not cold, and dry rest of the month. With no snow, the ground will thaw and soon begin to retain heat which leads to ice melting from underneath. I doubt I've got a month left of ice fishing before the shoreline is trash.

Rock Dock In Today(4/28/22)

Rock Dock In Today

Couldn't get her level, so we pulled it until it was and left it. If Steve wants to put the decking on, he can do it or not.

Dock And Other Things Came In Today (5lber)

5.02lbs Jackhammer/Devil Jr (FC)

Last Trip Todd Got a Bass

I think this was the eve of the Deer Opener.  Steve, Todd, and I pulled the dock out then Todd and I went fishing. I got the 5lber in LSB Northside where I has been getting fish. Todd got a couple of bass on the Jackhammer at SPSI and NPBI. We ended on F Flat chasing activity. I think we got a couple of pike.

22.25" Rage Swimmer

I fished at Eddy's from 10:00 to midnight. Got one bite at the South Jetty it choked the Rage Swimmer. Shined only 1 fish.

4/2, 1st Open Water Fish of 21 Comes From Rock!

13" THE Jig (Glow/Pink)

License On the Trophy today

Went down front after working on the boat.

I fished 3 different times today. First was at the GOMH on my way to the Lake Place. Didn't get anything and had my hat blown off. I got the boat ready to go in the water tomorrow. I stopped at Rock Lake to see if the Rock Dock was in; it wasn't. I only had a few minutes before I had to get the car home. On my very last cast a bass took the jig and made 2021 fishing history being my first landed fish out of open water in 2021. Turns out when I got home that the rents decided not to go to Good Friday. I ate pancakes for dinner then headed back out after 7:00PM. I stopped at Bulldog, Rock, and GOMH. Nobody else out fishing surprisingly enough. It had calmed down enough that I was able to hear swans taking off on the other side of Rock Lake. I didn't get a bite, but I did get some clipping done at the GOMH.

Dock In At the Lake Place

I got up to the Lake Place a little after  4PM and we were done by 5PM.  Steve did most of the work.  We put the Slop Slip n the Expedition.  I had a stowaway crawl onto my hand as I was driving home. There was a mouse in the boat when we put it in the truck.  I pulled the boat out and left the Expedition doors open when I got home, so hopefully it found a new abode.

Fishing With The Nieces And Sophia

The girls were able to bring in a few sunnies and perch throughout the day.  The made a livewell out of little float tube.  They had it full of fish when Todd and I got back from our evening trip.  This was all on Sunday Memorial Day Weekend.

My Top 13 Fishing Highlights of 2018

2018 was the year of Devin and Steve.  Steve and family moved into the lake place in the Fall of 2017 remodeled the place and about a year later moved on to a new adventure in Chicago.  Fishing with Dev and Steve were at the top of my highlights for the year.

#1 Highlight: Catching Bull Bluegills Off the Dock With Devin

#2 Highlight: Getting Steve His First Ever MN State Fish at Mille Lacs Lake

#3 Highlight: Teaching Devin about Ice Fishing

#5 Highlight: Steve's Big Pike

#6 Highlight Fishing With The Brothers.  Steve, Todd and I fished together on a few trips in the Trophy.  And there were quite a few trips with just me and Stever or me and Todd.

#7 Highlight: Steve's Big Doggo

#8 Highlight: Fishing the Melon Patch.  Many a melon was snatched and quite a few got away as well (Only linking twice doesn't begin to tell the story).

#9 Highlight: The 17" Hole and Big Rice Point.   Another productive area that provided a number of memorable trips as well as my biggest bass of the year.

#10 Highlight: Fishing and Pre-Fishing the Snatcher Minnewawa Tournament with Keith Tuma and his daughter Breanne.

#12 Highlight:  The Hot Fall Bite Off  Of Eddy's Jetty In October and November.  It's a shame winter came early this year.

#13 Highlight (Because I "Make My Own Luck") Catching Big Bass at the Mission Lakes Mini-Bucks.
