Bass Fishing Has A New Unofficial Commissioner

Office Of The Unofficial Bass Angling Commissioner

I'm guessing this is a Twitter Account that is linked to Blogger. I hope the guy has a long tenure and is not just a flash in the pan.

Go Visit YourBassGuy

I got an email from Alex the creator of the educational webpage YourBassGuy asking if he could be put on the blogroll.  It's been a long time since I've had one of those requests.  They are always welcome.  Alex started the site in memory of his grandfather Virgil Renfroe who got him into fishing.  The site has multiple people writing for it.  Check it out and learn something.

Bass Fishing In the Blogosphere Is Dying

The Final Post at Big Indiana Bass
I was vaguely aware of this fact do to all of the MN Bass Fishing Bloggers that had stopped or mostly stopped their blogging.  I haven't tended to my other blog rolls much over that last few years to realize how bad it's gotten.  I really should do something about weeding out all the blogs that no longer exist.

MN Fishing Blog Since 2005

Somehow the blog Fishing And Thinking In Minnesota has escaped my notice since 2005.  Probably because he is a fly fisherman who doesn't fish for bass that often.  I discovered it today while cleaning up my MN Bass Fishing Blogs blogroll from Hats On the Water's blogroll.

I Finished My 2013 & 2014 Blog Livewell's

At the top of the blog just under the header there is a row of links to my various blog Pages.  Since 2012 when Blogger first gave me the option to add Pages like this I have done a "Livewell" to showcase pictures of my notable catches from a given year.  I just now got around to finishing my 2013 Livewell and also my 2014 Livewell.

Enjoy!

HMMM, C' MON MAN!

This is my first blog here at the Flagship this month and I only had 8 posts total in June.  I only have blogged 12 of the 25 days I fished in June at the Fishing Log Blog so far (but if you go to the link you will see I blogged all 4 trips I've taken this month so far.)  I really should have posted Horny Toad Goes BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! SWOOSH! here at the Flagship this month at least.  I've got to blame my lack of blogging on fatigue from the two tournaments and Pete's short stay.  I didn't even blog who won the Minnesota Bowfin Championship this year yet here at Bass Pundit.  And it's almost Vikings training camp.

C' Mon Man!!!

Fishing Stats So Far This Year:
However, I have been keeping my fishing log at Fish Swami pretty much religiously.  I am happy to report I only caught 63 less fish in June of this year compared to June of last year.  Had we not had that fast warm up in early June, the numbers would have been even closer.  I've gotten 20 more pike this year than I did in all of last year and 6 more smallies.  I didn't catch a single smallmouth last year.  I am way down this year in the bass count compared to last year, but 538 is still a respectable number.  Topwater fish are way down from last year when I already had about 100 at this time on the Stanley Phantom alone.  My Grass Pig numbers are way down, but still a respectable 150 fish caught on them; The Grass Pig is my #1 lure again this year at least so far.  My craw tube numbers are up over last years, but I haven't gotten much on a Chigger Craw;  I just haven't fished Chigger Craws this year.  I did catch 89 fish there over about a 3 week span on a River 2 Sea Yabbie, which is a new bait for me this year.  I have caught fish on 8 more different lures than I did all of last year.

I'm 10 down this year on the walleye count, but dead even on dogfish with 3.  I'm way up on Rock Bass though with 17 more than last year and I've got rock bass factory the Whitefish Chain yet to go.  I may get some rock bass on Pelican Lake too.  One of these days I will get the Trophy on the water.  Our water levels on Platte/Sullivan are back down to normal and the fishing at the GOMH is really off now for the most part, though I did lose a good one out there a couple of mornings ago.

BASS SNATCHIN.com

I just found out about BassSnatchin.com through Facebook. Not to be confused with the Baxter Bass Snatchers, my fishing club.  This outfit is out of Texas and into making info graphics for people. They have a Blog on the website.  I hope they will make one for me.  Here is an example of their work:

What Are Your Priorities In Fishing?

This Facebook status update from the guys at 5X3 Nation caught my eye.  I thought now that would make for a good blog post.  The 5X3 list is all about tournament fishing, while my list is not exclusively about tournaments.

My Priories In Fishing Are...

1. To Catch Fish-  Make no mistake, when I go fishing I am going to try my darndest to catch as big and as many fish as I can, whether I am fishing in a tournament or not.  (This coincide's with #5 on the 5X3 list.)

2. To Have Fun- Tournament or not my #2 priority when I fish is to have fun and to me catching fish is fun.  (See priority #1)

3. To Enjoy God's creation, cause if the fish aren't biting what else is there to do?

4.  To test my skills.  Mostly against myself, but also against others. That is a big reason why I like fishing in tournaments.

5. To have something to report here or at the Bass Pundit Fishing Log Blog.

6. To experiment with and buy new tackle.  Minnesocold winters are long and the bait monkey's on my back big time at this time of the year.

7. The brotherhood and camaraderie.  I like fishing with other people some of the time, but I also like the peace and tranquility of just me, the fish, and God.  However, my time spent on Facebook and on message boards revolves a lot around this aspect.

8. To make a little money.  Yeah right!  I'm not in it for the money.  But I did win the Baxter Bass Snatcher "Lunker" pot on Rabbit Lake last year, so I won my club dues back.  So there's that.

I'm Still Alive

Due mostly to car problems and hot weather I only got out fishing 3 days in August.  I just have been to lazy to blog about anything.  Hopefully I will get some more blogging done this week, maybe some fishing as well.  We'll see.

Jody White Is Now Officially A Minnesocold Bassin' Blogger

.
If your not familiar with Jody of Jody White Fishing, he's been blogging since 2009.  He was a Collegiate Angler at Virginia Tech and is originally from Vermont.  He also co-hosted Jody and Jesse's Bass Fishing Podcast, which now looks to be over with.

Yesterday he got his first taste of Minnesocold bassin' out at Mille Lacs from his kayak.  He even got himself a Derby Fish, maybe more than one.

I don't know if the job he got out here is permanent or a short term thing.  It would be something if a bass fishing blogger moved to Minnesocold on a permanent basis instead of moving away ala Josh Douglas Fishing and Fishing Hype.  Time will tell.

Enjoy your stay here no matter how long or short.  Maybe even we could get out some time. My boat is slightly bigger than a kayak

New Minnesocold Bassin' Blog Midwest Swimbaits

I  just found out about the new blog Midwest Swimbaits.  Obviously the blog is about swimbait fishing in the Midwest.  I don't know if throwing hard swimbaits will ever gain much traction here in Minnesocold, but I think hollow belly's, dippers, and other plastic swimbaits have caught on to one degree or another.

18 Blog Posts In March

That is the worst post total for March since I started blogging in Nov. of 2004.  I blame it mostly on Facebook.  I wouldn't say 18 posts is a pathetic number though.

Pig Sticker, mybasslife.com, SEO Angler, & Fletcher Shryock

Pig Sticker is the blog of Steven Priest;  Steven is an aspiring Bass Pro out of Ohio trying to make it on the B.A.S.S. Eastern Opens.  He has been blogging for a year when he first started fishing the Opens.  I read everything from the start and really enjoyed it.  Check him out.

mybasslife.com is the blog of Scott McGehee: Scott is an aspiring Bass Pro who I think is out of Mississippi who has been blogging since Jan of 2010 and fishing the Opens since 1996.  He's been published on Bassmaster.com so you know he can write.  This will give you an idea what this guys about.

SEO Angler stands for South East Ohio.  Here is what it says in his Blogger Profile: Lifelong Ohio resident and fisherman. Wrote a weekly outdoor column for almost 30 years for the Zanesville Times Recorder. Write occasionally for Ohio Outdoor News. Avid bass fisherman, but I enjoy chasing crappie, bluegill and other fish as well.  It's basically a bunch of tournament results and other Ohio stuff.

Fletcher Shryock is a blog by none other than the Elite Series.  I see he will now be blogging at Basseast.com, so I'm guessing he won't be using it much, but who knows.
