Minnesota Bass Fishing Wins Derby!!!

For the 2nd year in a row Jason Holmer of the blog Minnesota Bass Fishing has won the Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Bloggers Derby also taking Big Bass honors for the 2nd straight year with another 7lber. Jason's 5 fish creel went 28.32lbs which unbelievably is .60 of a pound less than his Derby record bag of last year.

2nd Place goes to Rich's Bassin Blog with an impressive 27.35lb bag.

3rd Place goes to JoshDouglas.com blog with 25.32lbs

This year 16 blogs had fish, which is 1 more entrant than last year and actually 2 more blogs than last year because my friend Pete who isn't a blogger, but was in the Derby last year.

This was my best Derby yet with 23.50lbs.

It's actually turned into a race. If Rich can just get one more "Doozer", he could pass Holmer. Now have pics of 3 fish over 6lbs this year.

Another Big Fish For Holmer

Jason Holmer of Minnesota Bass Fishing blog had a very good day on the water. Among the fish caught was the 5.25lb bruiser. Jason also added a 4.87lb fish to his Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Bloggers Derby 2010.

Jason would probably be leading the Derby handily right now except for the fact that he seems to have a personal 4lb minimum for the fish he enters.

The Derby is kind of off to a slow start with no fish yet from MT Bucket Blog, Casey's Catch of the Day, Rich's Bassin Blog, Josh Douglas Blog, Art Simms Bass Fishing Blog, Ikeslayer's Outdoors Blog, Bob's Fishing Blog and Carl's "BassAckwards" Fishing Blog. Hopefully things will pick up before the 4th of July.

Holmer Throws Down!!!

I guess somebody was ready for the Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Bloggers Derby 2010 to start.
We are one day into the season and Jason Holmer of Minnesota Bass Fishing Blog already bested the big bass (which was his) of last years Derby. This one went 7lbs 3ozs

Details of the catch here... He caught it from the same lake as last years big fish.

Yes the Derby IS BACK!

For the past two years I have done a for fun Bass Fishing Derby at a dedicated Bass Pundit Blog Franchise Empire blog: Once again this year I am having the derby and it is entitled: Bass Pundit Minnesocold Bass Bloggers Derby 2010

Last year the focus was on getting the Minnesota Bass Fishing Bloggers in the competition as a way to help promote their blogs. I want that to be the case for this year as well, but I am also opening up participation to Bass Pundit readers that fish here in Minnesocold.

The Derby starts May 29th and runs through Nov 15th.

I try to make the Derby as hassle free as possible, so it is 100% on the honor system with no pictures required (though pictures make for better blogging of the event).
