BP's 2023 Top Lure: Snagproof Bobby's Perfect Frog

After two years of absolute dominance by ice fishing lures, my sore back in early 2023 ensured the rule of panfish lures would come to an end. In 2023, Bobby's Perfect Frog was back on top again; It also held the top spot in 2018 and 2020. I lost 10 Bobby's Frogs in 2023, mostly due to pike theft, but I did have an empty Power Clip come back a couple of times as well.

My supply of "The Sparrow" color is getting low, so this may or may not be the last year the Bobby's Perfect Frog comes out on top.

First Frog Fish of 2022

Was caught on a Sparrow Booby's Perfect at the Platte River Mouth in Sullivan Lake. She annihilated it. I caught 3 frog fish on the night.

2021 Bass Lure of the Year: Bobby's Perfect Frog

The Teckel Whacker and Mad Maxx came out of the gate strong, but by the time frog fishing for the year was over, Bobby's Perfect had run them down and run them over.  The craw tube came in 2nd place when my Jumpin' Bullhead totals were added to my total. Bobby's Perfect edged out the craw tube by 1 fish.

Here is my list of double-digit bass lures this year

2020 Lure of the Year: Snagproof Bobby's Perfect Frog

5.20lber 9/5/20 on the Sparrow

It was a record-setting year with the most fish caught ever on a lure in one year. 510 fish caught on one lure blows my previous record out of the water, which was 324 fish caught on a Glow Demon back when I could catch fish through the ice in 2017.  All, but 19 were caught on the "Sparrow" color. I kept throwing it and the fish kept biting it. Bobby's Perfect was also my top fish catcher two years ago in 2018. This makes three years in a row with a hollow body frog in the lead position. Last year the Tru-Tungsten Mad Maxx had the lead position with 311 fish caught. And just like last year, my biggest bass of the year was also caught on my number one lure. In addition to catching a record number of fish, I am sure I set a record for the number of lures bit off in a year. I went through well over half of my sizeable collection of Bobby's Perfect Frogs this year.  Dang Pike!
