Christie Captures Classic Crown

Victory Achieved! He did it. Jason Christie came back to B.A.S.S. with the expressed mission to get himself a Bassmaster Classic Championship, and by golly, he did just that. Christie just edged out Kyle Welcher and Stetson Blaylock, putting a 17lb bag on the scales giving him 54lbs on the dot, which scored me 40 bonus points in Fantasy Fishing and Drain the Lake. Whozahhhh!

Jason Christie- A Cautionary Tale

Jason Christie, I believe, has proven himself to be one of the very best bass tournament fishermen on the planet.  He currently sits #1 in the BassFan.com World Rankings.  You don't reach the top of that ranking system by a fluke. He catches his tournament limit more than 95% of the time.

But,

He didn't get that 5th fish on the final day of the 2018 Bassmaster Classic.  It wasn't like he wasn't around fish.  He was seeing them not go for his jig.  Do or die, he stuck with the jig, and it may have cost him ever winning a classic title by a mere 1lb 3ozs.  That's got to be an awfully tough pill to swallow.

What is the tale I believe Jason Christie should learn from this defeat?  Absolutely nothing, way more days than not he catches that 5th fish. He should just keep doing what he believes will catch fish because he is just that damn good at it.  I'm not going to second-guess a guy like him.

Congratulations to Jordan Lee on his 2nd Classic Victory in a row!!!

Also, Seth Feider did a great job, finishing 18th in his very first Classic.

Jason Christie- Man on Fire

B.A.S.S./Overstreet
Elite Series Rookie ,Oklahoma Pro, Jason Christie won at Bull Shoals this week in the B.A.S.S. Elite Series.  And last week he won at Beaver Lake in the FLW Tour.  That's right back to back tour wins on the two premier bass fishing tours.  His win at Bull Shoals was the largest jump in terms of place in the standings in Elite Series history,  11th to 1st.  I first heard about Christie in his rookie year on the FLW Tour through their Pundit Picks.  One of the guys raved about how good this guy was and he has been on my radar ever since.  Unfortunately I didn't put him on my Fantasy Fishing this week when they changed the bucket he was in.   Major League Fishing needs to get him in their league.

2012 Classic Day 1

Ike and Cliff Pace in the lead.  Two total polar opposites in terms of personality.  Cliff is one soft spoken, non showy dude. KVD in the hunt again.  My guy Christie looking dangerous.  My fantasy team is doing OK, but I need Scanlon, Knuth, and Alton all to pick it up on day 2.

Does anybody know what jerkbait Ike was using?  I couldn't tell by the pictures I saw.  Or how about KVD, was he using that SK bait?

I thought Chris Lane handled himself with grace in light of getting skunked.

It's gonna be even colder tomorrow.   I think Mike McClelland is gonna be dangerous.

I don't have any comments on B.A.S.S. Day 1 coverage as that I was asleep all day.  I will follow it on Sunday. Today I'll be in Brainerd for my Bass Snatcher meeting and I'm not sure when I'll be back

I'm impressed with the coverage at Advanced Angler.com.
